NW Branch Watershed and Trails

Trails in the Northwest Branch Stream Valley Park

The Northwest Branch Stream Valley Park provides a wonderful outdoor exercise opportunity, with trails extending from Alderton Road (off Bonifant Rd.) down to the Anacostia River.  Hiking is available on all trails, and bikes and horses also permitted on some.  A new multi-use trail is being built on the hillside downstream from Burnt Mills.  In the upper Northwest Branch stream valley, a historical trail  commemorates the involvement of Montgomery County residents in the  Underground Railroad and celebrates the Quaker heritage and traditions  of Sandy Spring.  For maps of these trails, click the files below.
