Presentation: Wheaton Regional Park Master Plan, 10/1/19

Chuck Kines, Montgomery County Parks Planner/Coordinator, updated us on the thinking behind the update of the Wheaton Park Master Plan. Although a regional park, Wheaton must also function as a local park, as it lies in a densely populated area.  His slide presentation, downloadable below, included maps and demographics.  The Parks Department is in the early stages of planning and welcomes input from park users.

Pterosaurs evidently went extinct rather recently and can still be found when we do cleanups.

Nov. 14 cleanup, NWB downstream from Kemp Mill Rd. trailhead: a challenging in-stream job well done! Thanks, everyone!

One of several dams created in the NWB by fallen trees catching woody debris, leaves, mud, and trash.  We assumed that hidden in that debris would be lots of litter. Plucking it out and poking holes for the water to go through were our goals. Photo by A. Ambler, 11/14/20.
